Rooted in time, alive in spirit

A 12th-century Benedictine monastery reborn as a sanctuary of heritage, culture, and nature — where the stillness of the past meets the vitality of the present.

A preserved architectural heritage

Behind its centuries-old walls, the Convento de Cabanas unveils a world imbued with elegance and spirituality. Its cloister, a true haven of peace, invites contemplation through its interplay of light and shadow.

Beside it, the perfectly preserved church stands as a testament to centuries of devotion and faith.

Nestled at the foot of a wild mountain, just one kilometre from the unspoiled Atlantic beaches, the Convento sits within a timeless seven-hectare estate where remarkable architecture meets an exceptional natural setting. A crystal-clear river winds through meadows and woodlands, nurturing a landscape that feels both serene and alive.

At its heart, the Convento flourishes amid lush gardens — from the romantic rose garden to the abundant vegetable beds and orchard, where guests may wander, reflect, or gather ripe fruit beneath the trees. Here, nature is not just a backdrop but an invitation to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect.
